This week Ashlee’s mom, Dana, joined us to explore Niagara Falls! She flew into Detroit on Friday night and we hit the road on Saturday. Our drive took us across Ohio towards New York staying at a Harvest Host called The Winery at Spring Hill. They had a live band which made for some great people watching!

Sunday we had coffee and a quick breakfast before completing the drive to Four Mile State Park just North of Niagara Falls. It was a huge campground right on Lake Ontario with a view of Toronto Canada across the lake. The first afternoon the boys had a blast on the playground, we spoiled ourselves cooking a tri tip on the Blackstone, baked beans, and corn then watched a gorgeous sunset! 🌅

The next morning Kevin had to fly home for a few quick nights to handle some business, but before his flight we made a quick stop to view Niagara Falls! He was bummed we were going to tour it while he was away so we made a quick stop before the airport then would return the next day to do the more tourist attraction viewings. What a magnificent thing to see in our country! Wow 😍

After dropping Kev off at the airport to fly home to Oregon ✈️ we found some NY Style Pizza! 🍕yummy!!! Ash & Gma then took the boys to the Niagara Falls Aquarium to see the sea Lion show, penguins, fish, sharks, and more. The boys loved it!! It was then nap time on the drive back to the campground for a relaxing evening of park playtime, dinner, and movies before bed.

Tuesday was our full day of exploring Niagara Falls and of course it started raining on the way! So we detoured to explore some small towns and found a super cute one named Lewiston just north of Niagara Falls. We ended up going to a lunch spot called The Silo which had been featured on Man vs Food. I ordered the famous “Haystack” sandwich but in the kids size and it was still enormous plus you got a free ice cream cone with it! The sandwich was pretty much a Philly cheesesteak with hash browns on top… odd but it was delicious!!

After the rain slowed we did the popular boat ride to see the falls called The Mist. It was a must do if you ever visit and so pretty to see all the falls! We were all enjoying watching then realized why they give you rain ponchos because the wind shifts and you get SOAKED! 💦

The afternoon was an exploration day while the boys napped. We drove through a few other state parks in the area and then went passed our campground to see some of the other surrounding small towns. It’s a gorgeous part of New York! The sunsets were again so pretty over Lake Ontario.

Wednesday morning Ash picked Kev up at the Brooklyn airport after his red eye return flight. He landed then we went back to the campground to pack up and hit the road to Pennsylvania! Wednesday night was Grandma’s final night on the adventure. We stayed a night at Yogi Bear Jellystone Park about an hour north of Pittsburg. It was a fun campground for the kids with lots of activities and stuff to do.

Thursday it was time to say bye bye to grandma after a super fun week. 😢 We all loved having her around!! Ash drove gma and the boys to the airport to drop her off then took the boys to the Children’s Museum in downtown Pittsburg which was so cool! To avoid driving the RV in downtown, Kev drove it to the next campground called Mountain Top which was NE of Pittsburg.

We had a wonderful time exploring New York and Niagara Falls! The next few nights we will spend touring Pittsburg before going south to Maryland to meet up with Kevin’s childhood buddy, Ryan Shane and his family. The adventures continue….
